Sony Xperia Z3 will be the second flagship smartphone launched by the Japanese company this year. The handset has yet to be officially unveiled, but Sony has already confirmed it will bring two top-tier phones on the market each year and IFA 2014 is the perfect opportunity.
Sony Mobile has recently announced its IFA 2014 press conference will take place on September 4 in Berlin, Germany. The company is expected to launch the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia E3 smartphones, as well as a brand new Xperia tablet. There have been lots of rumors tipping some of Xperia Z3’s specs, but today’s leak reveals the smartphone’s full specs sheet. As always, we recommend our readers to take the information with a grain of salt until Sony confirms them in just a few days. The phone’s full specs sheet has been leaked via XperiaBlog and confirms that the smartphone will come with a 5.2-inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1080p resolution and features 600 nits brightness.
Moreover, Xperia Z3’s 20-megapixel rear-facing camera is said to feature LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording. It includes an Exmor RS module and lots of advanced features. Sony Xperia Z3 also packs a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Hardware-wise, the flagship smartphone is armed with a powerful 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and no less than 3GB of RAM. Some fans may be disappointed by the fact that Sony did not adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 chipset, but the Japanese handset maker may have decided to go with an older chipset a few months ago. Xperia Z3 comes with 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 128GB via the microSD card slot.
The specs sheet also includes the phone’s exact measures, so Sony fans will be pleased to know that the Z3 will be the thinnest Xperia smartphone at only 7.5mm. Furthermore, the handset measures 146.5 x 72.4 mm and weighs 154 g (battery included). As expected, Sony Xperia Z3 will have IP55/IP58 certifications for dust and waterproof. It will also offer LTE support, along with NFC (Near Field Communication), Digital Sound Enhancement (DSEE HX) and MHL 3.0 connectivity. The smartphone will be powered by a 3100 mAh battery featuring Sony STAMINA mode with 2.0 day stamina. Last but not least, the leak also reveals that Sony Xperia Z3 will be initially available for purchase in black, white and copper.
