Last week brought up questions whether or not we were going to see Sony unveil a new tablet (so-far dubbed Castor) at MWC 2014, since rumors about it stopped appearing ahead of the big date.
Anyway it appears the tablet will appear in the wild after all, as infamous leakster @evleaks has pulled the veil off the specifications for the slate. The tablet will apparently be called Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, so basically it’s a refresh of the original model. The new slate will retain the same 10.1-inch display with the old 1920 x 1200 resolution, which is a little bit disappointing, especially since rivals are sprouting pretty competitive models.
However, things have been upgraded in the processor department, where we find a quad-core Snapdragon SoC clocked at 2.3GHz combined with 2GB / 3GB of RAM. Other than that, we can expect to see the tablet being fitted with 16GB of RAM (extendable via microSD), two cameras (worthy 8MP on the back and 2MP in front) and 6000 mAh battery. Like its predecessor, the product will sport a waterproof body. Last but not least, Castor will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Keep an eye out for it at MQW 2014, where the launch date might be revealed.
