Chinese phone vendor Meizu has been recently rumored to plan the launch of a new version of its Meizu MX3 smartphone, one that would run under Ubuntu, and the company has already provided confirmation on the matter, it seems.
The info comes from Meizu Russia, which unveiled to mobiltelefon.ru that its engineers were indeed working on putting the platform on the smartphone, but that things still needed to be polished. Apparently, the team is focused on ensuring increased stability of the operating system on this device, and it might take a while before things become official.
Moreover, the company is also said to be building a new version of the Flyme ROM (based on Android) for the Meizu MX2 and MX3 smartphones, and it won’t release Ubuntu for the new flagship until this software is ready for launch.
