Shortly after the HTC One Google Play Edition received the recently launched Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, another Google Edition device got the upgrade, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
XDA Developers reports Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is now getting the said update via OTA (over the air). This is a staged rollout, which means not all devices will receive it at the same time. The update is sent under the codename KOT49H and has around 57MB in size, which makes it rather small compared with other major updates.
Those who do not wish to wait until Android 4.4.2 KitKat (KOT49H) update arrives on their Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition phones can manually download and install it via Google's servers. Keep in mind that the binaries and the kernel source for this update have already been published by Samsung and are available for download via the company's open source center.
