Although Philips is less known for its smartphones, it appears that the company plans to launch a new Android phone, the W8355.
The main selling points of the smartphone are dual-SIM capability and the large 5.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen that displays 960 x 540 pixels resolution. The bad news is Philips W8355 ships with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, and is unlikely to receive a Jelly Bean upgrade after launch. According to UnwiredView, Philips W8355 will be launched in China initially, but other regions might get it as well.
It is also worth mentioning the smartphone is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM. The W8355 sports a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
