It wasn't so long ago that we wrote about the overclocking feat which managed to drive the Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3770K CPU to 6.616 GHz.
Now, we get to report on another feat, one that uses the ASUS Maximus V GENE motherboard instead of the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H.
The testers actually name the motherboard the best Z77 chipset-based platform.
Their opinion may or may not be accurate. Either way, the clock speed they achieved is higher than the previous one: 6.74 GHz.
4 GB of G.Skill Ripjaws 2,133 MHz memory were used for making the test bed, along with an ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP graphics card, a 120 GB HDD, a 1,200 Corsair PSU and, of course, lots of LN2 (liquid nitrogen) for cooling.
Intel should announce the Ivy Bridge CPUs later today (April 23), unless the other rumors are true and the launch will happen on April 29.
