Zotac has just announced that it has expanded its ZBOX mini-PC lineup with three additional models packing AMD and Intel processors, designed to provide high-definition video playback in a compact form factor.
The most powerful mini-PC to be introduced by the Chinese company is the ZBOX ID82, which is powered by an Intel Core i3-2330M Sandy Bridge CPU.
This is just the second time that such a chip is being installed inside a Zotac Mini-PC.
Besides the performance boost brought by Intel’s Sandy Bridge architecture, the dual-core 2330M processor also adds support for a series of video technologies, such as InTru 3D, Clear Video HD and Quick Sync video transcoding.
“Zotac is always looking for ways to push the mini-PC performance envelope,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, Zotac International.
“The latest generation Intel Core i3 mobile processor enables us to give demanding users the performance edge they need for advanced tasks such as video and image processing,” concluded the company’s rep.
Right below the ZBOX ID82 in Zotac’s product lineup there stands the ZBOX nano ID61, which is powered by Intel’s Celeron 867 processor, a first for the company’s “nano” series of Mini-PCs.
In addition to the faster CPU, Zotac’s ZBOX nano systems have also received an updated card reader that supports SDXC memory cards, as well as an optical S/PDIF output.
Finally, the third Mini-PC to be introduced by Zotac today is the AMD E-450 powered ZBOX Blu-ray AD05.
These systems now come with a new bundle that includes Zotac’s Media Remote and an USB IR receiver for easy control of the mini-PC, when used with Microsoft Windows Media Center, OpenELEC, or other similar software.
All three new ZBOXes are available as a customizable barebone platform, with support for USB 3.0 and enough room to accommodate DDR3 SO-DIMM memory, as well as a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD.
Plus models are available with 2GB of DDR3 and a 320GB hard drive pre-installed. Sadly, no info regarding pricing or availability has been specified.
