Next month, Sony should make official new handsets in the Xperia series, and the previously leaked Nypon is one of them.
The smartphone emerged into the wild a few times before, but only a few details on its capabilities were made available.
The handset’s specs list has made an appearance on XperiaBlog recently, so we can learn some more on what Sony might have is store for us in the near future.
Sony hasn’t delivered an official announcement on the new smartphone as of yet, but it might announce it as soon as next month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Sony’s LT22i Nypon will hit the market with a NovaThor U8500 dual-core application processor inside, with each core clocked in at 1GHz.
Moreover, the yet unannounced smartphone will feature 1GB of RAM inside, along with 16GB of internal memory.
It will pack a 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The panel will sport WhiteMagic technology, which reportedly delivers 1000 nits of brightness when in "outdoor mode." This is the same level of brightness that Nokia 701 has to offer.
One other important feature of the new device would be the fact that its screen requires only half of the usual power when in regular mode.
On the back, the smartphone will feature an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with an Exmor R back-illuminated sensor, LED flash and support for 1080p full HD video recording.
The new mobile phone is said to include Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/hg/n connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and GSM and W-CDMA connectivity capabilities.
In addition to LT22i Nypon, XperiaBlog unveiled details on two other handsets from Sony, namely ST21i Tapioca and ST25i Kumquat.
Both of them should land on shelves as affordable handsets, it appears. Tapioca is reportedly powered by a single-core 800MHz processor, while Kumquat sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen display.
MWC is only several weeks ahead, and additional info on these smartphones should emerge as their official launch date approaches, so stay tuned.
