Nokia will bring to the market before the end of the ongoing year a new flavor of its MeeGo-Nokia N9, one that is dressed up all in white.
The company already made available for purchase other flavors of the high-end device, and will bring the new version to shelves during the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, starting with the 64GB version.
“Nokia is happy to announce a new addition to the Nokia N9 family with the arrival of the white version of the highly acclaimed device,” the company announced.
Apparently, the company needed some more time for the development of the white flavor of the new device, although white smartphones are the trend these days.
Frank Zillikens, who heads up the product marketing for Nokia N9, explains: “The manufacturing process for beautiful white products is quite complex and we wanted to make sure we deliver the best possible quality for our consumers.”
Nokia also announced that the white flavor of N9 arrives on shelves with a glossy finish, which will differentiate it even more from the other flavors, which sport matte black, magenta and cyan colors.
Unfortunately, Noikia did not unveil specific info on the markets that will receive the new white Nokia N9 in the following months.
However, the Finnish mobile phone maker announced that the handset is expected to receive a software update in the near future, none other than the PR 1.1 firmware we mentioned in a previous post.
“The other Nokia N9 news today is the software update, which people will be able to download during the fourth quarter of 2011,” the handset vendor noted in a post on Nokia Conversations.
“The update includes usability improvements, like music controls keys from the lock screen or closing apps by swiping them down by default and NFC tag reading is also added.”
